The heel has no release function. The very low standing height offers an optimal driving experience in tricky situations such as steep gullies or demanding crossings. The so-called step-in side towers make it easier to get into the toe piece by more than 30%, so that you can stand securely in the binding in a flash. At the same time, they increase lateral stability during the descent.
